Vicki Sidley
Vicki Sidley has taught yoga for 26 years, bringing decades of Hatha Yoga experience and a deep commitment to Yantra Yoga, the Tibetan Art of Movement.
Raised in South Africa, Vicki was influenced in her early yoga practice by visiting Indian swamis. After moving to the United States, she studied Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Shadow Yoga. In 2002, she completed a nine-month teacher training program with Yoga Arts in Australia, accredited by Yoga Alliance of America at the 500-hour level. From 2003 to 2020, she taught Hatha Yoga and Flow Vinyasa in Marin County, Mexico, and South Africa, and in 2018 taught breathing to Dzogchen students in China.
Vicki was introduced to Yantra Yoga in Berkeley in 2014 by authorized teacher Luke Karamol. She immediately recognized the unique effectiveness of this Tibetan practice and has practiced it diligently ever since. This practice was brought to the West in the 1970s by the Dzogchen master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, Yantra Yoga engages the mind in the precise coordination of movement and breathing through a series of seven-part sequences (the yantras), harmonizing the energies of the practitioner.
In 2015, Vicki was authorized to teach a breathing practice developed by Fabio Andrico, now known as the Respira Evolution Method, which supports the fluid breathing central to Yantra Yoga. In 2020, she received authorization to teach The Eight Movements that Purify the Prana (Lungsang), one of Yantra Yoga’s three preliminary sequences. In 2024, following rigorous training and supervision in Italy under direct students of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, she received her certification as a Yantra Yoga 1st Level Teacher.
Vicki shares this ancient practice with Dzogchen practitioners and others interested in the relationship between movement, breathing, and mind, drawing on many years of dedicated practice and study.
